Tourism & Hospitality
Hotels, posadas, resorts and hospitality projects.
The demand story is real and hard to measure at the same time. The operating story is what decides whether a project works.
Tourism here is growing again from a low base, and Margarita combines a duty-free regime with one of the country's special economic zones. There is a codified income-tax incentive for newly built tourism establishments. What official arrival figures cannot tell you is demand at your price point, and the industry itself says it cannot confirm them.
We help you read a hospitality opportunity the way an operator would. The permits, the incentives that actually apply, and the running costs nobody prints in a brochure.
What a first conversation covers
- 01What the tourism-law tax incentive actually covers, and how it is claimed
- 02What Margarita's duty-free and special-zone status means in practice, and what it does not
- 03The true operating budget, where power, water and connectivity are your own responsibility
- 04Which coastal and border land restrictions apply to a foreign buyer
- 05Where air connectivity stands right now, rather than where it stood last year
Official visitor statistics cannot be independently confirmed, and air connectivity is still recovering. Judge a project on its operating economics, not on an arrivals headline, and have title and land-restriction checks done before any money moves.
Tourism & Hospitality
Is tourism really growing, or is that government talk?
Both things are true at once. Visitors are returning and flights are being restored, and the official numbers cannot be independently confirmed, which the industry itself acknowledges. We treat growth as real and the statistics as unusable for a business case. A project should work on its own operating numbers.
Can a foreigner own a hotel or posada outright?
Generally yes, through a Venezuelan company, with two caveats worth checking early. Land in a strip along the coast and near borders carries restrictions, and food service brings its own permits. Both are checkable before you commit to anything.
What do running costs look like?
Plan as if the public grid were a backup. Established operators size their own power for the full load, store water, and keep a second line of connectivity. Priced honestly from the start, these are a known cost rather than a surprise.
